If I had to pick one team to be without a few guys to start training camp it would be the Houston Rockets. After all, they do have like 20 guaranteed contracts and 30 players overall in camp (okay, so I’m exaggerating).
Rookie forward Royce White has been absent from the Houston Rockets’ media day and training camp in what the team is describing as “a personal matter.” White has a history of anxiety issues.
Lastly, ‘bigman’ Jon Brockman had to be hospitalized after an injury to his right eye. He was hurt Monday while working with an elastic band used for stretching muscles. The band apparently slipped off his foot and the recoil hit ‘Brock’ in the eye.
Even free agent pick-up Carlos Delfino, a rare veteran on this club, won’t be able to participate in practice till Thursday. He’s having problems with his visa.
Houston stockpiled as much young talent as they could this summer hoping to pull-off a Dwight Howard trade (or other star ‘big’) without needing other teams to help facilitate it. In the end, the Lakers used a 4-team deal to get ‘Superman’. Now the roster is filled with a lot of duplication…young guys who plays the same position on do the same things, and few much better than the next. I guess they could afford to miss a few guys here and there…..but, eventually, Kevin McHale has to pick a rotation.
Good luck, coach.

the “rockettes” deserve bad luck after putting all their eggs in the dwight bag.
