Deja vu: Bynum out with knee injury

October 1, 2012

Everytime I post a story involving new 76ers center Andrew Bynum, I get the same old comments…..he’s injury prone. I have vehemently maintain that those knee injuries are all in the past.

Well, today’s news isn’t going to help my case.

The Philadelphia 76ers announced today that ‘Drew’ has a bone bruise in his knee and will miss 3 weeks. He spent a good part of last month in Germany undergoing a similar knee procedure as Kobe Bryant had last summer.

The team will withhold him from basketball activities for the next three weeks in order to maximize the therapeutic effects of the Orthokine therapy he received earlier this month. Bynum was examined by Dr. Jack McPhilemy of Main Line Health and was diagnosed with a bone bruise of the medial femoral chondyle of his right knee. During the aforementioned time frame, Bynum will continue to participate in low impact conditioning drills

Philly fans, and myself, are hoping that this will be exactly what it sounds like…..a minor injury.

The Sixers also announced today the signing of C Mikki Moore to the training camp roster. They hope he can help other ‘bigs’ Spencer Hawes & Kwame Brown fill-in for Bynum.

More from 76ers training camp as it develops…..
