The Atlanta Hawks have re-signed power forward Ivan Johnson, according to Comcast SportsNet. It’s a one-year deal that’ll allow him the chance at a long-term contract in 2013.
Johnson was a restricted free agent, which scared a lot of teams off of a long-term deal. Accepting the team’s qualifying offer was the only move to make this late in the offseason. Barring injuries, next summer will be a much better financial play for Ivan.
The rugged PF may just be the scariest looking dude in the NBA, especially considering that he has a lifetime ban from a basketball league overseas for his excessive temper. I expect coach Larry Drew to give him much more playing time this year behind Josh Smith and Al Horford…..something that didn’t happen towards the end of last season.
GM Danny Ferry, keep doin’ what you’re doin’.

I Luv Ivan’s game.
