I have thought of a name for the seven game series we just witnessed between the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics: The Answer.
Allen Iverson presenting the game ball for Game 6 in Philly was a symbol from the basketball gods.
His former team just kept answering back the entire series. After losing game one, these two teams exchanged wins the rest of the way. The young Sixers showed what they’re made of as a group…sharing the scoring load and sharing the responsibility.
Then, when Paul Pierce fouled out with four minutes left in Game 7, Rajon Rondo answered back too…with two huge bombs from outside. The first was later ruled a long two-pointer, the second a convincingly deep three.
Think Pierce regretted those two bear hug fouls early in 4th quarter? Next time around, The Truth is better off making a play on the ball…you may get away with a strip.
The were answers were aplenty in this, yet another, chapter of the Celtics-Sixers rivalry.
With Game 1 in Miami less than 48 hours…there’ll be a whole lot of new, bigger questions for this Boston crew.
