Fake Thugs: Suspensions Heat Up

May 23, 2012

There is no way in David Stern’s world that Udonis Haslem and Dexter Pittman suit up for the Miami Heat in Game 6 Thursday night. Both “gentle” men performed flagrant fouls that warranted ejections last night, though either was forced to leave the game.
The NBA has a way of making everything right….these two will have to sit till Game 7 (yes, there will be one).

I understand Udonis laying out Tyler Hansbrough as payback for his flagrant foul on Dwyane Wade a second earlier. It was old school.

But Dexter Pittman is just another over weight center in the NBA, just another fake thug in the league. His wink and smile after nearly breaking Lance Stephenson’s collar bone were a joke. I hope he doesn’t think this is over…wehere Lance grew up in the NY this kinda thing has a way of coming back to kill you (literally).

Juwan Howard, Mr Fake O.G., sending a younger guy out to do his dirty work in garbage time. You’re a joke Juwan. No one took you seriously as a “rising star” twenty years ago, so why should we take you seriously as an old has-been.

If you ran a tape of Howard’s garbage minutes this season (it wouldn’t take long) you’d see at least 7 or 8 hard fouls bordering on flagrant. This dude is a hypocrite.
Your retirement is overdue Mr. ‘Flab Five’.

p.s.- the toughest guys in this series play for the Pacers (David West & Roy Hibbert).

    1. Haslem is an obvious keep who is on a below mrkaet contract because of loyalty to Miami, even factoring his injury history.2. Miller will likely get amnestied at some point into the season, but only after the Heat have reason to need cash. No reason not to play a waiting game here.3. Eddy Curry is not a long view situation. He is there for 2 reasons. His agent is a certain someone that the Heat have reason to suck up to. There’s a small chance he turns out to be a reasonable big on a team that sorely needs one. 3. You didn’t mention perhaps the Heats 2nd biggest off-season move (after Battier of course), and that is signing Chalmers to a 3- year $12 million dollar deal. They kind of had to because they had no exceptions after Battier but this contract will definitely come back to bite later.4. The Heat are easily the favorite and definitely going to improve a lot over last year- a year where they were already easily a level above the rest of the league.
