I am hearing that the Oklahoma City Thunder are the favorites to land point guard Derek Fisher, who reached a buyout with the Houston Rockets on Monday.
While Fisher understands the Lakers’ decision to trade him last week, he relishes the opportunity of facing his former team in a playoff series. Joining the Thunder would give him the best opportunity to do that.
The Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat have been prominently mentioned as destinations for Fisher, but I hear that OKC is the more likely landing spot for him.
Oklahoma would be a return to the Midwest for Derek, who was raised in Arkansas and attended the University of Arkansas – Little Rock.
In negotiation his buyout from Houston, Fisher gave up his player option for next season (rougly $3.4 million).
UPDATE: (3/20/12) Marc Stein of ESPN is now reporting Fisher will likely join the Thunder.

As a Laker fan I want Fish on the EASTcoast. The last thing I want to see is him w/ the ball in the conference finals 0.4!
Scary pick-up for the rest of the league, especially LA.
