Gasol-to-Rockets a done deal?

March 9, 2012
By

According to longtime NBA writer Roland Lazenby, the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets have agreed to a trade of Pau Gasol for Kyle Lowry and Luis Scola.

Lazenby: “It seems we’ll soon be getting news that Gasol has been traded, no details confirmed, but he’s apparently gone.”

The reason for the hold-up is that Lowry is currently in a New York hospital with abdominal pain.

I want to stress that my sources have not, as of yet, confirmed this story. However, it is being reported on some media outlets.

At last check, the Rockets were still searching for a third team to help them get a Gasol trade done.

More as it develops…..

UPDATE (3/10/12): According to my sources, there is no trade imminent and both teams are still discussing a possible deal involving Pau Gasol. The Lakers don’t feel that Kyle Lowry is the answer at the PG position. A third team will be needed to give the Lakers what they need (a starting PG & a starting SF).¬†We will continue to monitor this story.

UPDATE (3/12/12): Roland Lazenby chimed in this weekend…”Some say the tough decision has already been made. That may well be. And the Lakers are hoping teams will make it even tougher” (Twitter). Translation, the Gasol is headed out of town, the Lakers are just hoping they get an even better offer. The Rockets remain the likeliest destination.
